Keeping your kitchen clean is super important to avoid diseases or infections like salmonella. However, just because your kitchen looks clean doesn’t necessarily mean it’s free of bacteria. Remember that these are microscopic and can be hidden in the most remote places of your stove, blender, or refrigerator.
This list will help you keep your kitchen healthy:
1. Vegetable drawer in your refrigerator: Empty and wash with warm water and soap at least once a month.
2. Meat compartment: It is also necessary to wash it at least once a month and every time juices from any meat spill.
3. Blender: After using your blender, completely disassemble the bottom part. Wash and dry the parts separately.
4. Can opener: Even if it seems clean, it’s important to wash your can opener after each use with warm water and soap.
5. Spatula: Wash after each use. If the spatula has two pieces, disassemble it and wash each one separately.
6. Water tube in your refrigerator: If your fridge has a water outlet, it should be cleaned at least twice a week and the ducts once a year.
7. Ice maker in your refrigerator: Turn off the fridge and let the remaining ice melt. Wash the compartment with warm water and soap once a month.
8. Knife block: If you store your knives in a wooden block, use a small brush to clean the cracks with warm water and soap once a month.
I don’t want to scare you or activate some kind of obsession with cleanliness; I simply share some recommendations to keep in mind when cleaning the kitchen.
