The marigold flower is the centerpiece of the offerings and altars of Día de Muertos, as its scent and color are very characteristic.   • 1/2 cups water, for the syrup
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, for the syrup
  • 2 tablespoons marigold petals, for the syrup
  • ice cubes
  • 2 ounces Tequila blanco
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce orange juice
  • lime juice, for rimming
  • salt, for rimming

  • For the syrup: combine water, sugar, and marigold leaves in a saucepan. Cook for 3 minutes or until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
  • Mix the tequila, lime juice, orange juice, and marigold syrup in a shaker. Shake for a few seconds.
  • Rim the glass with lime and salt, add ice, and pour the mixture.
  • Garnish the marigold margarita with marigold leaves.
