How to make homemade apple cider?

Apple cider is an ideal drink to refresh and to use this fruit that is left over at home or simply to enjoy it in a different way. Remember that cider has a very low alcohol content and is very easy to prepare; the important thing is to take care of it so that it ferments well.

  • 4 liters drinking water, chlorine-free
  • 2 cups brown sugar, or muscovado
  • 15 apples, they can be Golden or Gala, but it is important that they are sweet.
  • 1 envelope wine yeast, optional

  • Chop the apples into large pieces with the skin on, they don’t have to be regular or uniform.
  • Pour the 4 liters of water and the sugar into a glass container, dissolve with a wooden spoon, and then add the apple pieces, including the cores.
  • Dissolve the packet of yeast in a little water, wait 10 minutes for it to activate, and pour it into the glass container.
  • Cover with a cheesecloth and set aside in a dry, dark place. Stir the cider approximately 2 or 3 times a day, fermenting for 7 to 10 days.
  • Strain with the help of a strainer and cheesecloth.
  • Refrigerate and it is ready to drink.
