Crazy Cantaritos Recipe

  • 1 cup tamarind pulp, liquid, ideal for rimming
  • 1/2 cups chile powder, for rimming
  • 1 orange, for cutting into segments
  • 1 grapefruit, for cutting into segments
  • ice cubes
  • 2 limes, seedless
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cups orange juice, seedless
  • 1/4 cups grapefruit juice, seedless
  • 1/4 cups Tequila blanco
  • grapefruit soda
  • orange, quartered, rimmed with chili for decoration
  • grapefruit, sliced into quarters, for decoration

  • Place the tamarind pulp on a flat plate, then turn the cantarito upside down to perfectly cover the edge. Next, dip the cantarito in a plate with chili powder to rim it. Set aside.
  • Cut off each end of the orange and remove the peel, then carefully slide the knife along each segment to obtain only the fruit and repeat the same procedure with the grapefruit. Set aside.
  • Place the ice in the cantarito already rimmed with tamarind and chili, squeeze the lemon, add the salt, orange juice, grapefruit juice, tequila, and the orange and grapefruit segments to taste and fill with grapefruit soda. Finally, mix very well with the help of a spoon or stirrer.
  • Decorate the cantarito with more rimmed slices of orange and grapefruit. Enjoy.
