Milk Coffee

You have to try this milk coffee recipe! This coffee drink originated in a famous café in the state of Veracruz, where it is traditionally served in a thick glass, adding a shot of espresso and the milk is served very hot, using a spouted teapot that creates a lot of foam.

  • 2 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons Mexican chocolate
  • 4 tablespoons coffee, freshly ground
  • 4 cups milk

  • Heat the water and table chocolate over medium heat for 5 minutes, until the chocolate dissolves, then add the freshly ground coffee, cover, and remove from heat. Let it rest for 2 minutes, strain, and set aside.
  • Heat the milk until it boils, for about 5 minutes, remove from heat and serve immediately in a pitcher with a handle, like a teapot.
  • Serve in a thick glass, first the coffee, approximately the size of a shot glass, then pour the milk, making sure to pour from a height, as this is what creates the foam and creaminess.
  • Enjoy your milk coffee alone, with bread, or with your favorite dish.
