On hot days, there is nothing as refreshing as tamarind water. It is so easy to make that you will never buy any concentrate again.

15 tamarind pods, dry
5 cups water
1/4 cups sugar
ice cubes, to taste
chile powder, to taste

Peel the tamarinds and remove the seeds.
Heat the water, once it reaches a boil, add the tamarinds and turn off the heat. Remove the seeds from the tamarinds.
Add sugar.
Place the water in the blender and blend.
Strain the mixture through a sieve.
Add ice and serve.
