  • 1 cup milk , warm
  • 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups strong flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cups unsalted butter , melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • oil , for frying
  • 2 cups icing sugar, for the glaze
  • 1/4 cups lemon juice , for the glaze
  • 2 drops pink dye, for the glaze
  • rainbow sprinkles, to decorate

  • Combine the milk, sugar, and yeast until integrated. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Beat the flour, salt, butter, egg, vanilla essence, and the previous mixture until you get a well-integrated and smooth dough. Place in a previously greased bowl and let rest for 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.
  • Punch down the dough on a flat surface with a bit of flour and roll out until you get a thickness of 1 cm. Cut the donuts and place them on squares of wax paper. Cover with a cloth and let rest for 15 minutes.
  • Fry the donuts in a pot with enough oil at medium temperature for 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until they are well cooked inside. Drain and let cool.
  • Mix the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and food coloring. Dip one side of the donuts, sprinkle with colored sprinkles, and let dry.
