Sweet Ears

This recipe is the classic sweet ears you find in bakeries, but by making them yourself, you can make them healthier.

  • 500 grams puff pastry, of good quality and fresh
  • 1 cup artificial sweetener, Splenda (for baking)

  • Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangular shape on a floured surface so it doesn't stick.
  • Once you have rolled out the dough, sprinkle sugar on the surface and, using the same rolling pin, press the dough so it absorbs the sugar, and repeat on the other side. The amount of sugar is to taste, depending on how sweet you like them.
  • Fold the two long ends of the dough towards the center so that they are even. Finally, fold the dough in half on the same side you folded it previously.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut pieces from the roll that are about one centimeter thick.
  • Place the pieces on a non-stick baking sheet, spaced apart so they don't stick together.
  • Put the baking sheets in the oven and bake until they are well cooked. You can leave them longer if you like them a bit golden.
