Delicious pan de muerto, a traditional Mexican sweet bread made to remember the deceased. It is spectacularly delicious. This time you have to try it with a bit of cream cheese. You will love it.
Heat a small portion of milk, dissolve the dry yeast in it, add 2 tablespoons of flour, 2 of sugar, and place it in a warm spot in your kitchen to ferment.
Place the flour in a sieve along with the remaining sugar, a pinch of salt, and sift it to refine. Add the eggs, vanilla, and milk gradually, and mix it in. Then add the orange zest and mix it to form a first dough.
Add the already fermented yeast to your first dough, stirring it slowly. At this point, it may seem like you can't incorporate it, but don't worry, it's normal. Incorporate the dough by giving it strong punches for a good while until you form a perfect dough with a very good consistency.
Preheat your oven to 180°C. Grease a baking tray with butter all over the surface.
Mix the cream cheese with the condensed milk until you achieve a good consistency to your taste and a sweet flavor.
Form 4 small balls of dough and flatten them to look like thick tortillas, placing your cheese mixture in the center; close them like a ball, doing the same with all. With the remaining dough, divide it into 8 small strips and 4 balls. Form the bones and place them on top of the bread.
Let it ferment for 20 minutes and then bake for 25 minutes. Let it cool, and if you wish, sprinkle a little butter and sugar to give it more sweet flavor.
