Spiced King Cake

Enjoy the gift season with this incredible king cake! We added a touch of rum and Smucker's® Raspberry Jam that makes it completely irresistible.

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup Smucker's® Raspberry Jam
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 3/4 cups natural yogurt
  • 1/2 cups spiced rum
  • 1 cup water, for the syrup
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar, for the syrup
  • 1/4 cups pineapple, for the syrup
  • 1/4 cups pineapple juice, for the syrup
  • 1 star anise pod, for the syrup
  • 1 cup Smucker's® Raspberry Jam, for the syrup
  • 2 ounces rum, for the syrup
  • 1 cup Smucker's® Raspberry Jam
  • 1 cup tie green, for decorating
  • raspberries, for decorating
  • tie yellow
  • orange, for decorating
  • cookies, crushed, for decorating
  • Smucker's® Raspberry Jam, for decorating

  • In a mixer bowl, beat the egg pieces and Smucker's® Raspberry Jam with the paddle attachment. Add the butter and beat until combined. Gradually incorporate the flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla extract, yogurt, and spiced rum, and beat until fully integrated.
  • Pour the mixture into a previously greased and floured mold, filling it ¾ of its capacity, and bake at 170 °C for 50 minutes.
  • Unmold the king cake and let it cool.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the water, add all the syrup ingredients, and cook for 15 minutes. Let cool, add the rum, and set aside.
  • Soak the king cake with the previous preparation and set aside.
  • Cover the spiced king cake with Smucker's® Raspberry Jam and decorate with strips of ate, orange slices, and crushed cookie.
