SpongeBob's Three Kings' Cake

  • 500 grams flour

  • 4 grams salt
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 120 milliliters cow's milk
  • 5 grams lime zest
  • 5 grams orange zest
  • 5 milliliters vanilla essence, or orange
  • 165 grams egg, (approximately 4 eggs)
  • 200 grams butter, at room temperature
  • 50 grams sugar
  • 50 grams butter
  • 50 grams flour
  • 10 grams egg, (approximately 1 egg)
  • canned pineapple
  • maraschino cherries
  • yellow food coloring
  • 100 grams granulated sugar

  • Pour 12 grams of fresh or active yeast into 120 milliliters of warm milk.
  • Add to a mixer with a dough hook: 500 grams of flour, 100 grams of sugar, 4 grams of salt, and 4 eggs. Incorporate the vanilla or orange essence and the yeast and milk mixture.
  • Gradually incorporate 200 grams of butter and the zest of 1 orange and 1 lemon.
  • Check that the dough easily pulls away, and it will be ready.
  • Grease a container with vegetable oil, place the dough inside, and cover with a cloth. Put the dough in a closed place with a container of hot water next to it. Let it double in size, approximately after 30 minutes.
  • Add 4 drops of yellow food coloring to a container with refined sugar.
  • For the sugar topping: 50 grams of butter at room temperature, 50 grams of sugar, 50 grams of flour, and 10 grams of egg. Mix until you obtain a paste and place it in a pastry bag.
  • Knead the dough with your fingers until it has doubled in size, shape it into a ring with your hands, and insert the plastic figurines.
  • Decorate the ring with sugar paste, pineapple in triangles, and cherries in syrup. Brush with a beaten egg. Sprinkle the strips of paste with yellow sugar.
  • Bake at 180°C for about 20 minutes or until slightly golden.
