Sweet Cheese Tortillas

Sweet cheese tortillas are a treat to enjoy on a cool afternoon with coffee, atole, or milk, and it is a traditional recipe from my state of Veracruz. This recipe combines ingredients from the state of Chiapas (like cream cheese) and the corn dough from our state.

Servings
  • 500 grams masa dough

  • In a saucepan, place the dough and spread it out. Separately, crumble or grate the cheese and add it to the dough, making sure it is well incorporated. Add the sugar enough to your taste, so they are sweet.
  • Heat the oil over medium heat in a skillet.
  • Make the tortillas not too thin because they break, and fry them until they take on a golden color on both sides, draining them on absorbent paper, and that's it. Taste them with an aromatic coffee or on their own; they are delicious. Enjoy your meal.
