Cheese-Stuffed Arepas

This recipe is for making Colombian arepas; they are a very traditional dish that is also consumed in different countries in South America. You can fill them with different ingredients, depending on what you like the most.

1 1/2 kilos corn masa flour, white
350 grams butter
1 liter water, hot
20 grams salt
20 grams sugar
600 grams cream cheese, or mozzarella
Preparation

Heat the water until it boils.
Mix all the ingredients except for the water.
Add the water while kneading the mixture.
Portion into balls of 150 grams.
Divide the balls in half.
Make a dough for the bottom of the round mold, place the cheese in the center and cover with the rest of the dough.
Place on a pre-greased hot iron griddle.
Grill and enjoy.
