Cinnamon and Walnut Rolls

  • 1 package active yeast
  • 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cups cow's milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 cups walnuts, in pieces
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 5 tablespoons water

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • In a deep bowl, dissolve the active yeast in hot water and mix.
  • In a large deep bowl, mix the milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/3 cup of butter, salt, and the egg. Whisk well with a whisk.
  • Add the flour to the mixture gradually along with the yeast mixture and beat for 2-3 minutes.
  • Knead the dough with your hands and flatten it on a clean surface sprinkled with flour.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a lid, and let it rise for at least 60 minutes at room temperature.
  • Take the dough and on a clean surface sprinkled with flour, flatten it to form a thin rectangle.
  • Spread 1/2 cup of melted butter, 3/4 cup of sugar, chopped walnuts, and cinnamon over the rectangle. Roll up the rectangle and cut into circles at least 3 cm wide.
  • Place the rolls on a previously greased baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, make the frosting by mixing 4 tablespoons of butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 5 tablespoons of water.
