  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 cup nut , chopped
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder , royal
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 3/4 cups sour cream
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 7 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted and at room temperature

  • To prepare the topping of the cake, known as streusel, mix the ingredients with an asterisk* (1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, 4 tbsp unsalted butter cut into pieces, 1 tbsp ground cinnamon, and chopped walnuts) with your fingers. Set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (180 C). Grease 2 round 9-inch pans. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the sour cream with the brown sugar and regular sugar, the eggs, and the melted butter. Stir until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  • Divide the mixture into the cake pans and sprinkle the streusel mixture from step 1 over each cake.
  • Place the pans in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out almost dry. Let the cakes cool for 15 minutes before serving.
