Ham and Egg Sandwich

A delicious ham and egg sandwich for breakfast to enjoy a lovely weekend.

  • 8 slices artisan bread roll, thick
  • 450 grams Gruyère cheese, sliced
  • 500 grams roast beef, sliced
  • 1/2 cups unsalted butter , at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 4 eggs

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Butter all the slices of bread on both sides.
  • Assemble the sandwich: one slice of bread, one slice of cheese, one slice of ham, then another slice of cheese. Use a round cutter and cut through the ham, cheese, and bread. Top with a slice of bread without a hole.
  • In an oven-safe skillet, place the sandwiches with the hole facing down until they are golden brown. Flip the sandwiches and crack the egg into the hole.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and cook until the egg is set, about 10 - 12 minutes.
