High-Protein Sandwich

This sandwich is a lighter version of a classic called croque madame, a traditional French preparation consisting of white sandwich bread with butter, cheese, and ham. In this lighter version of croque madame, we ensure that the ingredients are low in calories while still resulting in a delicious dish.

  • 1 cup cream cheese, low-fat, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon chives, chopped
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 tablespoon McCormick® light mayonnaise
  • 2 slices whole grain bread
  • 2 turkey breast
  • 1/2 cups quesillo, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • salad, to serve

Low
  • Mix the cream cheese with the mustard, chives, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Spread a tablespoon of cream cheese on one slice and McCormick® light mayonnaise on the other. Then, add the turkey breast, cheese, and top the sandwich.
  • Bake the sandwich at 200 °C for approximately 5 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly.
  • While it is baking, heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil, the egg, and cook for 3 minutes.
  • Serve the high-protein sandwich and place the fried egg on top. Serve the sandwich with a salad.
