Beef Meatballs in Tomato Sauce with Purslane

Cook these meatballs easily with Prep&Cook Krups®, a practical way to prepare your meals, try it with plenty of tomato and onion, which will give it that characteristic sweetness. Also, add a touch of steamed purslane—you'll love it!

  • 2 cups ground beef
  • 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 3 cups tomatillo
  • 1/4 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 cups purslane, to accompany

  • Place the kneading blade in the bowl of the Prep&Cook Krups® and mix the ground beef with the breadcrumbs, eggs, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt to taste, in manual mode at speed 5 for 2 minutes. Remove the mixture from the bowl and, using your hands, form 80-gram balls to make the meatballs. Set aside.
  • To make the tomato sauce, use the mixer of the Prep&Cook Krups® in manual program at 90 °C, at speed 1 to mix the garlic with the oil for 30 seconds.
  • Add the onion and program again to 90 °C for 40 seconds.
  • Add the tomato and program to 65 °C, speed 1, for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the mixer and place the ultrablade in the Prep&Cook Krups®. Cover and blend at speed 12 for 25 seconds.
  • After the time is up, add the chicken broth to the previous mixture, season with salt and pepper. Place the meatballs in the sauce and program to 120 °C for 15 minutes. Once the time has passed, remove the meatballs, place the Prep&Cook Krups® basket with the purslane, and cook the sauce for 10 more minutes until you achieve the desired consistency and the purslane has steamed. Serve the meatballs hot and accompany with the purslane. Enjoy.
