Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs Wrapped in Bacon

This recipe for beef meatballs stuffed with mozzarella cheese wrapped in bacon, mixed in a delicious Prego® sauce with mushrooms will fascinate you. Dip your meatballs in the sauce and the combination will be spectacular.

  • 1/2 kilos ground beef
  • 1/2 cups white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cups parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1/2 cups basil, fresh cut into strips
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1/4 cups Mozzarella cheese, cut into cubes
  • 10 slices bacon
  • 1 Prego® mushroom sauce
  • 1/2 cups whipping cream
  • 1/2 cups Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1/2 cups basil, fresh, for garnish

  • Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
  • In a bowl, mix the ingredients for the meatballs, season to taste, and set aside.
  • Using your hands, form small balls, make a hole with your finger in the center of the meatball, fill it with mozzarella cheese, and close it.
  • Wrap the meatballs in the bacon slices, covering them well.
  • Place them on a baking sheet and bake until the bacon is golden brown. Set aside.
  • For the sauce, heat a skillet over medium heat and add the Prego® sauce with mushrooms, the heavy cream, add parmesan cheese, and season to taste. Add the meatballs to the preparation, finish with fresh basil. Serve and enjoy.
