Steak with Jalapeño Sauce

This beef steak recipe features a jalapeño sauce cooked with white wine. The steak is first seared in a pan and finished in the oven. It’s perfect for a dinner with many guests as you can quickly cook a large quantity.

  • 1 kilo fish steak
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 4 Jalapeño chiles
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tomatoes, peeled, seedless, and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped

  • Sear the steak in half of the oil and butter, set aside. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  • Add the rest of the oil and butter and sauté the chopped garlic and jalapeño pepper. Add the flour and let it cook for a minute. Add the tomato and cumin, let it cook for a minute and then add the white wine, letting it simmer for a few minutes.
  • Add the beef broth and let the sauce reduce. Add the chopped cilantro.
  • Slice the steak and place it in a Pyrex dish closely (following the shape of the steak). Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Place on a platter and drizzle with the hot jalapeño sauce.
