Carnitas

This delicious carnitas recipe features traditional and flavorful carnitas to enjoy with a rich corn tortilla and guacamole or simply on their own.

  • 20 corn tortillas
  • 1 kilo pork leg
  • 50 grams vegetable oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro
  • 2 leaves bay
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 5 lemons

  • In a large pot, cook the meat with enough water until fully cooked.
  • Remove the meat from the water and drain it. Shred it with your hands.
  • In a skillet, heat the oil and add the meat to start browning it.
  • Add the bay leaf, pepper, and salt, and continue cooking.
  • Warm the tortillas and fill them with the carnitas, serving them immediately.
