Crispy BBQ Wings

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cups chipotle chile in adobo sauce
  • 1/2 cups raw sugar
  • 1/4 cups honey
  • 2 tablespoons old style mustard
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, or English
  • 1/4 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cups whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 kilo chicken wings, clean
  • 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cups cornstarch
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • vegetables, in sticks like carrot, jicama, and cucumber
  • ranch dressing, for accompanying

  • For the BBQ sauce, heat a small pot over medium heat with the butter, cook the garlic, and add the ketchup, chipotle chili adobo, brown sugar, honey, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, whisky, cayenne pepper, onion powder and cook until thickened. Season to taste with salt and pepper and set aside.
  • In a bowl, season the chicken wings with salt and pepper, coat with flour and cornstarch, remove the excess, and set aside.
  • Heat a deep pot with oil, fry the wings until they are well cooked, remove from the pot, and place on absorbent paper to remove excess fat.
  • In a bowl, mix the BBQ sauce with the wings until they are well coated.
  • Serve the wings with vegetable sticks, accompany with ranch dressing, and enjoy.
