Italian Meatball Stuffed Bread with Parmesan

  • 125 grams ground beef
  • 125 grams ground pork
  • 1/2 cups Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon parsley , finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon basil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Great Value® salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Extra Special Olive Oil®
  • 1 cup Great Value® traditional pasta sauce
  • 6 baguettes, mini
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted, for brushing the bread
  • 2 Extra Special® soft garlic cloves with fine herbs , finely chopped
  • 1/2 cups Parmesan cheese, grated

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • For the meatballs, in a large bowl, mix the ground beef with the ground pork, cheese, garlic, onion, breadcrumbs, spices, and egg. Season with salt and pepper and form small meatballs with your hands. Set aside.
  • Heat olive oil over medium heat in a deep skillet and sear the meatballs. Add the pasta sauce, bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover, and cook for 15 to 20 minutes or until cooked through. Adjust seasoning.
  • Hollow out the middle of the loaves using a knife, without reaching the edges, removing the bread crumbs.
  • Brush the inside of each loaf with melted butter and spread a little of the garlic with herbs. Fill with meatballs and a bit of sauce. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Place the loaves on a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust of the bread is slightly hard.
  • Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil, and serve immediately. Buy HERE
