Chicharrón Gorditas

Chicharrón gorditas are a complete dish for an afternoon with family or friends, they are delicious and you can fill them with whatever you like most.

  • 2 cups masa dough
  • 1/4 cups corn masa flour
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cups corn oil
  • 2 cups pork rinds
  • 1 cup green salsa
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups lettuce, shredded
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • Mix the dough, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the vegetable shortening and mix with your hands until everything is well combined. Gradually add water until a dough forms. Divide the dough into 14 equal-sized balls.
  • Flatten each ball to form discs. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the gorditas and fry for 3 minutes, drain on paper towels, and let cool slightly.
  • Make a small opening at the top of each gordita and gently open it. Mix the chicharrón with the green sauce and fill the gorditas with the chicharrón, lettuce, and a bit of cream.
  • Serve.
