Mix the dough, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the vegetable shortening and mix with your hands until everything is well combined. Gradually add water until a dough forms. Divide the dough into 14 equal-sized balls.
Flatten each ball to form discs. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the gorditas and fry for 3 minutes, drain on paper towels, and let cool slightly.
Make a small opening at the top of each gordita and gently open it. Mix the chicharrón with the green sauce and fill the gorditas with the chicharrón, lettuce, and a bit of cream.
Serve.
