An ancestral recipe made with Mexican ingredients, but with a sophisticated touch of flavor thanks to Hunt's® Original BBQ Sauce, combining the taste of Mexican cuisine with the unmatched flavor of BBQ.
Use a saucepan, steamer, or pressure cooker.
Preheat water; enough for a water bath.
Wash the nopales thoroughly, drain them, and cut them into small cubes.
Wash the potatoes thoroughly and slice them.
Wash and devein the guajillo chiles, then boil them in a little water, letting them simmer for about 5 minutes.
Blend the guajillo chiles (previously cooked), tomato, garlic, cumin, onion, and Hunt's® Original BBQ Sauce, adding 1/2 cup of water.
Blend all ingredients until a uniform appearance is achieved.
Spread the mixiote leaf and place some pieces of meat in the center with some slices of potato, cut nopales, and salt to taste (the portion placed will depend on the size of the leaf).
Pour the previously prepared sauce over the meat.
Close the maguey leaf and tie it tightly with hemp thread to prevent leaks.
Place the mixiotes inside the pressure cooker (or whatever is being used) for a water bath and cover.
Cook for about 40 minutes.
