Glazed Ham in Chili Sauce

This glazed ham is a simple and delicious option to prepare for any gathering; it’s easy, original, and doesn’t sacrifice the flavor of a good dish.

  • 3 guajillo chiles, clean
  • 3 ancho chiles, clean
  • 4 morita chiles, clean
  • 1 cup Smucker's® strawberry jam
  • 3/4 cups orange juice
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons spice, (anise, cinnamon, pepper, fennel seeds, clove)
  • 1/4 cups soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 deli ham, smoked, (approximately 2 kg)
  • new potatoes, roasted, for serving
  • green beans, sautéed, for serving

  • In a small pot, heat the guajillo, ancho, morita chiles, Smuckers® strawberry jam, orange juice, spices, and soy sauce over medium heat for 5 minutes, until the chiles soften and the sauce thickens a bit; then add the rice vinegar, mix a little, and remove from heat.
  • Let cool slightly and then blend for 3 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 170 °C.
  • Place the ham piece on a baking tray and make deep diamond cuts with the help of a knife, then brush with plenty of glaze; bake for 1 hour at 170°C and brush every 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice the ham and serve, accompanied by the remaining glaze, baked potatoes, and sautéed green beans.
