Enjoy delicious tamales during Candlemas or whenever you want to give your kids a lovely homemade breakfast. Nothing better than themed food to surprise them; they won't believe they are from their favorite characters.
Dice the pineapple into small cubes, reserving some of the syrup.
In a bowl, mix the corn dough with the butter at room temperature.
Incorporate the sugar and beat until it begins to fluff, add the pineapple and dehydrated raisins (optional).
To make the Patrick Star version, color half of the dough with red vegetable dye until you achieve a pink tone.
Spread a tablespoon of the dough on the top of a corn husk (previously softened in hot water for 1 hour). Wrap and seal the tamale perfectly, placing it in a double boiler or a tamale steamer if preferred. Do the same with the rest of the dough.
Cover the steamer and let cook for approximately 50 minutes; you will know they are ready when the dough easily pulls away from the husk.
