Bittersweet Chocolate Oranges

Chocolate and orange make an excellent combination. This recipe is ideal for a cocktail or a party.

  • 150 grams semisweet chocolate
  • 250 grams water 250 grams water
  • 250 grams sugar 250 grams sugar
  • 2 oranges, thick-skinned

  • Cut the oranges in half and remove the fruit from the inside (leave only the peels).
  • Cut each half orange into 8 strips of approximately 1cm each.
  • Place the oranges in a pot with cold water and heat over high heat until the water boils. Repeat this process 3 times or until the oranges are translucent.
  • In a medium pot over medium heat, mix the water and sugar. Add the orange strips and cook until the water has turned into a syrup (approximately 20 minutes).
  • Remove the oranges and let them dry on a rack for at least 24 hours. Place the rack over a tray lined with wax paper to avoid mess.
  • In a double boiler, melt the bittersweet chocolate.
  • Take each strip of orange and dip half in chocolate. Place the strips on wax paper and let them dry at room temperature.
