Buñuelos for the whole family

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups all-purpose wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • canola oil, extra for frying

  • In a large bowl, mix the eggs with 1/4 cup of sugar and beat until thickened and a deep yellow color is achieved.
  • Add 1 cup of oil. Mix separately 1 1/2 cups of flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually incorporate into the egg mixture and stir well.
  • Place the dough on a floured surface (using the remaining 1/2 cup of flour). Knead well until it feels smooth.
  • Shape 16 dough bags. Roll each one out with a rolling pin to form circles approximately 12 cm in diameter.
  • Let rest on wax paper and uncovered for 10 minutes.
  • Heat extra oil to 175ºC in a deep frying pan.
  • Fry the raw buñuelos until golden, flipping once.
  • Remove excess fat with paper towels.
  • Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Store in an airtight container.
