Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Prepare two pans by greasing and flouring them.
In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, add the butter and use an electric mixer to beat until it is softer and a bit lighter in color. Add the eggs one by one and mix. Add the vanilla.
Add one cup of the dry ingredient mixture and let it mix, then add half a cup of milk and let it mix. Repeat this process until you finish with both mixtures.
Divide the batter into two pans, about 3/4 full. Bake the cakes for 30 to 35 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the cake and check that it comes out clean.
Let it cool for 15 minutes, run a knife around the edge of the pan, and flip it over to release it more easily.
In a bowl, mix the butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer for 5 minutes until smooth. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Add the chocolate to the previous mixture and beat for 5 minutes until homogeneous and fluffy.
Decorate your cake with the frosting.
