In the mixer, mix the sugar with the butter until lightened in color.
Add the eggs one by one while continuing to beat.
Add the vanilla and gradually add the sifted flour with the baking powder, mixing until combined, do not overmix.
Pour the mixture into the cake mold and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let cool.
For the custard: mix the yolks with the cornstarch and set aside.
Heat the condensed milk, water, and vanilla, and when it comes to a boil, remove a few tablespoons to add to the yolk mixture and stir, then add the yolk mixture to the milk and keep stirring with a whisk until it thickens slightly and turn off the heat, let cool covering our custard with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming.
Once our cake is cold, we slice it in half and put our cooled custard on the bottom and cover with the other slice.
For the frosting: we whip the cream until peaks form and gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla, continuing to mix until we obtain a smooth mixture.
We decorate our cake with the frosting and grated chocolate.
