Yogurt Cake Yiayia

  • 1 pound flour
  • 7.9 ounces butter
  • 7.9 ounces sugar
  • 7.9 ounces FAGE® Total 0% greek style yogurt
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 handful almonds, peeled
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 5 leaves rose petal, (Pelargonium)

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
  • Grease a pan and place 3 or 4 rose leaves at the bottom.
  • Sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • Beat the butter very well and gradually add the sugar followed by the vanilla extract, continuing to beat while adding the ingredients.
  • Add the egg yolks one by one, beating in between. Add the FAGE® Total 0% Greek Yogurt followed by the flour mixture.
  • Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold into the mixture with a metal spoon.
  • Pour into the pan and sprinkle the almonds on top.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
