Cherries with Anise

  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup star anise pod
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 piece orange peels
  • 600 grams cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup brandy

  • Heat water, sugar, anise, vanilla, and orange peel in a pot over medium heat.
  • When it starts to boil, add the cherries.
  • Wait for the cherries to soften, then add the brandy and stir to form the syrup.
  • Remove from heat, pour the liquid into a jar, seal it, and turn it upside down for a few minutes.
  • Let it cool to room temperature.
