  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cups cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup cow's milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, for the frosting
  • 90 grams butter, for the frosting, cut into cubes
  • 3/4 cups whipping cream, for the frosting
  • 3 cups icing sugar, for the frosting
  • 1 tablespoon cow's milk, for the frosting
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped and toasted; for decoration

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease and flour 2 cake pans of 20 cm in diameter.
  • For the cake, in a bowl mix all the dry ingredients. Set aside.
  • In the blender, beat the eggs with the milk, oil, and vanilla. Gradually add the dry ingredients while continuing to beat until incorporated.
  • Pour the mixture into the molds and bake for about 30 minutes or until cooked. Cool and unmold. Level and cut in half to form 4 layers.
  • For the frosting, in a small pot over low heat, melt the sugar and cook without stirring until it turns amber. Add the butter and cook for 4 minutes or until melted.
  • Turn off the heat and add the heavy cream, mixing until incorporated. Cool.
  • Place the caramel sauce in a bowl and gradually add the powdered sugar and milk, beating until you get a frosting.
  • Assemble the cake by placing a layer of cake, caramel frosting, and nuts. Repeat until finished. Decorate with more frosting, melted chocolate, and chopped nuts.
