Melt 1/2 stick of butter and let it cool. Melt 1 package of semi-sweet chocolate in a double boiler.
Separate the egg whites and yolks of the 8 eggs. Beat the sugar and yolks until lemon colored, for 5 minutes. Whip the egg whites to stiff peaks and fold into the yolks with sugar. Finally, incorporate the butter, flour, and melted chocolate.
Grease and flour three round pans, divide the cake mixture among them, and bake at 190 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool on a rack, and unmold.
For the cream, beat the 5 yolks with the sugar and add cornstarch, and the chocolate dissolved in milk. Place over heat and stir with a whisk until thickened. Remove and cover with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming.
Place one cake on a platter, spread cream on it, and sprinkle with chopped nuts, add another layer of cake, more cream and nuts, then the final layer and decorate the entire cake with the cream. Decorate with whole nuts.
