Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Prepare these delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries; you can serve them as dessert or prepare several in a box to give as a gift.

2 cups frozen strawberry, medium to large (about 18 to 20 strawberries)
1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chip
1 teaspoon vegetable shortening

Gently rinse the strawberries and dry them on paper towels.
Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
In a 1-quart saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and vegetable shortening over low heat, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat.
Dip the bottom half of each strawberry into the chocolate mixture; let the excess drip back into the pan.
Place them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
Refrigerate uncovered for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate is firm, or until they are ready to serve.
Store them covered in the refrigerator to prevent the chocolate from softening.
