Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Prepare these delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries; you can serve them as dessert or prepare several in a box to give as a gift.

  • 2 cups frozen strawberry, medium to large (about 18 to 20 strawberries)
  • 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chip
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening

  • Gently rinse the strawberries and dry them on paper towels.
  • Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and vegetable shortening over low heat, stirring frequently.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Dip the bottom half of each strawberry into the chocolate mixture; let the excess drip back into the pan.
  • Place them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
  • Refrigerate uncovered for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate is firm, or until they are ready to serve.
  • Store them covered in the refrigerator to prevent the chocolate from softening.
