Chocolate Filled Gugelhupf

This Chocolate Filled Gugelhupf is a German cake similar to the American Bundt cake, filled with chocolate that makes it truly delicious.

  • 300 grams flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla essence
  • 200 grams unsalted butter , cut into pieces
  • 150 grams powdered sugar
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 5 eggs , (separated)
  • 60 grams semisweet chocolate

  • Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Grease a cake pan (preferably a bundt cake pan like the one in the picture).
  • With an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the sugar and continue beating.
  • In a bowl, beat the butter for 1 minute until fluffy. Add the powdered sugar and beat for 2 more minutes. Add the egg yolks and continue beating. Add the vanilla.
  • Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Mix the egg whites, the butter mixture, and the flour mixture.
  • Transfer 1/3 of the mixture to the baking pan and pour the chocolate over the mixture. Then pour the rest of the batter.
  • Bake the cake for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before unmolding.
