Chocolatey Brownies

  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1/2 cups dates, sliced
  • 3/4 cups butter, melted
  • 2 cups raw sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cups coconut grated

  • Preheat the oven to 170 °C.
  • In a small bowl, place 2 tablespoons, add the dates, and mix to coat the dates with flour. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, with the mixer on low speed, mix butter, the 2 types of sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined. Set aside.
  • Add the cocoa powder to the remaining flour and mix into the sugar mixture, making sure to clean the edges well.
  • With folding motions, add the dates and shredded coconut.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased pan of approximately 25 x 38 cm.
  • Bake for 20 – 25 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool.
  • Cut into squares of approximately 5 cm.
