Sift the flour with the baking powder and salt. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Grease a cake pan with butter and sprinkle with flour, removing the excess.
Cream the butter with the sugar, add the egg yolks one at a time, and incorporate the flour with the milk in two parts.
Gently fold in the egg whites.
Take out 3/4 cup and add the chocolate. Add the vanilla to the remaining mixture.
Pour half of the vanilla mixture and spoon in the chocolate mixture, then add the remaining vanilla and spoon in the rest of the chocolate, making waves or zigzags with a knife.
Bake in a preheated oven at 190ºC or 350ºF for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean, let cool for 10 minutes, and unmold.
Let it cool, cover the cake with chocolate frosting, and then add the vanilla frosting in parts, swirling with a spatula, a toothpick, or a knife.
