Marble Cake

Try this delicious marble cake; it tastes amazing and is much easier than it looks.

  • 250 grams flour
  • 250 grams sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 grams butter
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder, Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cups cow's milk, to make the buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cups semi-dark chocolate chips

  • Melt the chocolate and let it cool.
  • Sift the flour with the baking powder and salt. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  • Grease a cake pan with butter and sprinkle with flour, removing the excess.
  • Cream the butter with the sugar, add the egg yolks one at a time, and incorporate the flour with the milk in two parts.
  • Gently fold in the egg whites.
  • Take out 3/4 cup and add the chocolate. Add the vanilla to the remaining mixture.
  • Pour half of the vanilla mixture and spoon in the chocolate mixture, then add the remaining vanilla and spoon in the rest of the chocolate, making waves or zigzags with a knife.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 190ºC or 350ºF for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean, let cool for 10 minutes, and unmold.
  • Let it cool, cover the cake with chocolate frosting, and then add the vanilla frosting in parts, swirling with a spatula, a toothpick, or a knife.
