Christmas Butter Cookies

Delicious butter cookies decorated with colorful Christmas frosting. Secret Tip: For your cookies to last longer put them in an airtight container.

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2/3 cups sugar
  • 250 grams unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 3 egg whites
  • food coloring

  • Preheat the oven to 180 °C - (356 °F), and prepare the cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream the butter and sugar. Add the yolks, vanilla, flour and salt and beat well until incorporated.
  • Place the dough on a flat, floured surface and shape with your hands until it forms a ball of dough.
  • Flatten the dough with a floured roller.
  • Cut cookies with Christmas shapes (Christmas trees, snowflakes, spheres, etc.)
  • Place the cookies on the baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. (The cooking time depends on the thickness of the cookies, it is important to watch them so they don't burn).
  • To prepare the frosting to decorate, place the egg whites in the mixer and beat until stiff peaks form. Add the powdered sugar little by little until it forms a smooth and uniform frosting.
  • Place some of the frosting in a container and paint with the desired color adding a few drops of vegetable dye. Repeat with other colors.
  • Place in a piping sleeve and decorate the cookies.
