Cookies for Decorating

Prepare these delicious sugar and butter cookies for any occasion: Valentine's Day, Easter, a baby shower, whatever you can think of!

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature (240 grams)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, (300 grams)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 2 3/4 cups flour, (330 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Preheat the oven to 400ºF (200ºC)
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter with the sugar until you achieve a light, creamy, and fluffy consistency.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract and stir.
  • Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, beating well each time you add more.
  • Divide the mixture into two balls.
  • On a floured flat surface, knead until you have a dough that is 5 mm thick.
  • Dust the cookie cutters with flour and cut out the desired cookies.
  • Place the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 6-7 minutes (or until slightly golden).
