  • Place the liquid in a measuring cup with a capacity of 2 cups; set it aside. If desired, reserve 2 of the guava wedges for later use as decoration. Chop the rest and set aside.
  • Pour the boiling water over the powdered gelatin in a medium bowl and stir for at least 2 minutes or until completely dissolved. Add enough ice cubes to the reserved liquid to make 2 cups. Add them to the gelatin; stir the ice until it melts completely. Measure 1 cup of the gelatin and set it aside at room temperature.
  • Refrigerate the remaining gelatin for 30 minutes or until it thickens a bit (like the consistency of unbeaten egg whites). Carefully incorporate the guava you chopped. Pour this into a serving dish with a capacity of 1-1/2 quarts; refrigerate the gelatin for 10 minutes.
  • Place the cream cheese in a medium bowl. Gradually add the reserved cup of gelatin, whisking it with a whisk until well combined. Use a spoon to spread the cream cheese mixture over the gelatin in the serving dish. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until set. Just before serving, top it with the guava wedges you reserved. Store any leftover dessert in the refrigerator.
