Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. As soon as we do this, we place all the ingredients on the table and two large bowls for mixing.
In a bowl, place all the dry ingredients from the list (from flour to salt). Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated, using a wooden spoon.
In the other bowl, we will work on the wet ingredients. Lightly beat the egg until the yolk breaks. Add the melted butter, vanilla extract, and yogurt. Whisk with a balloon whisk or in a mixer on low speed.
When perfectly incorporated, gradually add this wet mixture to the bowl with the dry ingredients. Once we have almost finished combining these two, add the dried cherries and chocolate chips to the bowl.
In a small bowl, place the fresh cherries and one tablespoon of flour. Coat them as much as possible with that flour without adding any other element. Set aside.
Finally, with our cupcake tray ready, fill each liner halfway with the batter and place the floured cherries on top. This will prevent them from sinking.
Lower the oven temperature to 150 degrees. Leave them in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Remember to check that the inside of the cupcake is cooked by inserting a wooden toothpick, which should come out clean.
