Cupcakes with M&M's

These delicious cupcakes are very easy to make and simple to decorate, perfect for a fun afternoon or for a birthday.

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cups cow's milk
  • 1/2 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature for the frosting
  • 3 cups icing sugar, for the frosting
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt, for the frosting
  • 1/3 cups cow's milk, for the frosting
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • m&m´s chocolate, in colors
  • food coloring

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter with the sugar using an electric mixer until fluffy. Add the eggs and yolks one by one. Add the vanilla.
  • Alternating, add a little of the flour mixture and a little of the milk, continuing until you finish with the flour. Mix until combined, do not overmix.
  • Line a cupcake tray with liners and fill each one halfway with an ice cream scoop.
  • Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Be careful! Do not open the oven before time as they will deflate and lose their cupcake shape.
  • Take out the cupcakes and let them cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter until very soft, making sure it is mixed evenly. Add the powdered sugar, salt, milk, and vanilla. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  • Divide the frosting into different small bowls and add the food coloring of your choice. Fill a piping bag with the frosting color you prefer and the tip of your choice. You can use the star-shaped one.
  • Decorate with M&M's; you can make a flower, a heart, or the initial of the celebrant. Use your creativity to make your own cupcakes.
