Date Ring with Orange Frosting

  • 270 grams butter, 3 bars, at room temperature
  • 1 cup Great Value® Sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 3 cups Great Value® wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoons Great Value® plain salt
  • 2 cups pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 cup Great Value® icing sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice

  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Grease and flour a ring mold.
  • In a mixer or bowl, mix the butter with the sugar until creamy, then add the eggs one by one.
  • In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter mixture. Beat until fully incorporated and add the dates.
  • Pour the mixture into a mold and bake for 40 minutes. Let it cool.
  • For the frosting, mix the powdered sugar with the orange zest and juice. Set aside.
