Day of the Dead Cookies

Put a twist on the classic Day of the Dead bread and prepare these delicious Day of the Dead cookies. Crunchy with a hint of orange and orange blossom, they are perfect for gifting or treating your loved ones. Day of the Dead bread made into cookies, it will be love at first sight!

  • 2 cups butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 San Juan® eggs
  • 1 teaspoon orange blossom essence
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 San Juan® egg
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • coffee, to accompany

  • Preheat the oven to 160°C.
  • In a mixer, add the butter and sugar and beat for 5 minutes, until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the Huevo San Juan® one by one, the orange blossom essence, the orange zest, and the flour, and beat until all ingredients are incorporated. Refrigerate.
  • Set aside a bit of the dough to form the bones and add a little flour, mix until incorporated. Shape the bones with your fingers and set aside.
  • Place the cookie dough on wax paper and use a rolling pin to roll out to 1 mm thickness. Brush with Huevo San Juan®, place the bones, and sprinkle with sugar. Place on a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes at 160°C.
  • Chill and enjoy. Pair with a coffee.
