Christmas Donuts

Homemade sweet bread is easier to make than you think, and you can verify this with this recipe for making fried donuts with Christmas decoration. This will be an easy and delicious dessert for your sweet table if you host a December gathering, or they will also make a good breakfast after Christmas. It is very important that before cutting the dough into donut shapes, you let it rest on the table, so that when you cut it, it does not contract and the donut loses its shape.

  • 4 cups flour, (500 grams)
  • 10 grams dry yeast
  • 3/4 cups cow's milk
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 San Juan® eggs
  • 1/4 cups butter
  • flour, for rolling out the dough
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate, melted
  • 3 cups icing sugar, for the glaze
  • 1/4 cups cow's milk, for the glaze
  • red food coloring, for the glaze
  • green food coloring, for the glaze

  • Mix in a bowl the flour, yeast, milk, sugar, salt, and San Juan® egg pieces, and knead until it starts to gain consistency. Add the butter and continue kneading for 15 more minutes, until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a previously greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rest for 1 hour.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough to 1 cm thick, and let it rest on the table for 10 minutes before cutting. Cut circles of different diameters, as shown in the video.
  • Heat the oil in a small pot over medium heat and fry the donuts; turn them with the help of a spatula and when removing them, drain on paper towels to remove excess grease.
  • For the glaze, divide the powdered sugar into 3 parts, add 2 tablespoons of milk to each, mix until incorporated, and add the food coloring, respectively.
  • Cover the donuts with the different glazes, as shown in the video, let dry, and decorate.
