These walnut and butter polvorones or walnut kisses are the perfect gift for Christmas. Welcome your guests with a sweet treat to accompany punch or afternoon coffee.
Crush the walnuts in a blender or food processor, being careful not to turn them into powder; they should remain in small pieces.
Melt the 2 sticks of butter in the microwave and place them in the mixer with 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, mixing at medium speed until a fluffy consistency is achieved.
Add 1 cup of flour, vanilla, and salt, and mix again at low speed until everything is combined. Add the rest of the flour and ground walnuts. Finish mixing just a little more.
Form a ball with the dough, wrap it with Pétalo® Kleenpack® to prevent it from absorbing odors and drying out. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Line the baking tray where you will bake the cookies with Pétalo® aluminum foil.
Remove the plastic from the dough and form balls of approximately 2.5 cm. Place them on the tray, spaced apart.
Bake for 15 minutes until they have a light golden color.
After the cooking time, let them rest for 5 minutes to cool.
Decorate a plate or basket with Pétalo® napkins to make them look nicer.
Dust the polvorones with powdered sugar and wait until they cool completely.
