Fruit Cocktail with Cinnamon and Vanilla Sauce

  • 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons liquid vanilla
  • 2 apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder, optional
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup grapes
  • 3 kiwis
  • 3 peaches
  • 1 cup strawberry

  • COMBINE the sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon sticks in a medium pot. Gradually add the evaporated milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture begins to boil and thickens slightly. Remove the pot from the heat and take out the cinnamon sticks; add the vanilla extract. Chill for two hours or until the mixture is well cold.
  • ARRANGE the fruits on dessert plates. Pour the sauce over the fruits. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
  • TIP: Refrigerate any leftover sauce in a covered container for up to 3 to 4 days.
