Tricolor Churro Cake

Churros with hot chocolate are one of the most popular delights in Mexico and other countries, especially during the rainy and cold season.   • 2 1/2 cups water, boiling
  • 1 box Tres Estrellas® churros mix
  • green food coloring
  • 2 1/2 cups water, boiling
  • 1 box Tres Estrellas® churros mix
  • 1 box Tres Estrellas® churros mix
  • 2 1/2 cups water, boiling
  • oil
  • sugar
  • cinnamon
  • 2 sticks cream cheese
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • Mexican chocolate, for decorating

  • Add red food coloring to 2 ½ cups of boiling water and mix until the desired color is achieved. Place the Tres Estrellas® Churro Flour in a bowl, pour in the boiling water in a steady stream, and mix until combined. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag with a tip. Pipe the dough onto parchment paper forming a circle and freeze for 30 minutes.Repeat the same procedure with the green food coloring.
  • Heat the oil in a large, deep skillet and fry the churros over medium heat for 3 minutes or until well cooked. Drain, roll in sugar with cinnamon, and let cool.
  • Place the cream cheese in a bowl and cream with a mixer. Add the whipped cream, vanilla, and powdered sugar until a firm frosting is obtained. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  • Place one churro on a cake base, then add the cream cheese frosting, place another churro of a different color, and repeat until finishing with one churro.
  • Decorate the cake with some more whipped cream and grated chocolate.
